Contacts: People

When a Project is created, the customer's name and contact info is automatically recorded as a standalone data entity called a Contact (similar to Properties), which includes the person's name, phone number, and contact address (not to be confused with the Property address..the contact address can be changed to a P.O. Box, an office, or anywhere else they like to receive invoices!).

Many:many relationships

A Project can have unlimited Contacts, if, for instance, you're working with a couple, family, or a business team. On the flip side, a Contact can have multiple Projects if, say, you're solarizing both someone's primary residence and their vacation home, or maybe a portfolio of houses for a single home builder. This article further explains the relationship between Contacts, Projects, and Properties.

Primary Contact

One People-type Contact on each Project is designated as "primary". By default, this will be the first one added when creating the Project, but it can be changed on the Project Info screen. The Primary Contact has no special considerations, other than being the one that shows up on the Project Hub, and any other place where space is constrained.

Adding additional People to Projects

You can tie existing People to a new Project when you create it. In the Contact section of the New Project drawer, select "Choose" instead of "Manual". Start typing, and the system pull matches out of the Contacts database, allowing you select any existing People to tie to the new Project.

You can also add People to an already existing Project. From the Project Hub, go to Project Info and click the edit (pencil) button next to "Contacts". You'll be able to manually create or choose existing People to add to the Project.

Viewing and managing People

You can look at your existing People Contacts at any time, by clicking "Contacts" in the left sidebar. In the Contact detail screen, you can update their mailing address without affecting any of their existing Projects' Properties. Additionally, you can quickly reference all the Projects you've done for this particular individual.
